Meaning
Verse 1: I bow to Vinayaka, who joyfully holds the modaka in his hand, who is ever the means to liberation, who wears the crescent moon as an ornament, and who lovingly protects the world.
Verse 2: I take refuge always in the Lord who is fearsome to the unfriendly, radiant as the newly-risen sun, bowed to by gods and demons alike, who lifts up those bowed down by great hardship — the lord of gods, of treasures, of elephants, of ganas, the Great Lord himself.
Verse 3: I salute the radiant one who brings auspiciousness to all worlds, who has destroyed the demon in elephant form, whose form is unlike any other, whose face is that of a noble elephant, who is full of compassion, forgiveness and joy, who bestows fame and grace on those who bow to him.
Verse 4: I worship the ancient elephant-lord who wipes away the pain of the poor, who is celebrated in old scriptures, the cherished first-born of Shiva, who crushed the pride of the demons, who is fearsome at the dissolution of the world, and who is adorned by Arjuna and other devotees.
Verse 5: I constantly meditate on the one-tusked Lord — whose radiance is gentle as moonlight on a tusk, whose form is beyond thought, who is without end, who removes all obstacles, and who dwells forever in the hearts of yogis.
Verse 6 (fruits of recitation): One who recites this Ganesha Pancharatnam with devotion every day at dawn, remembering Ganeshvara in the heart, soon becomes free of illness and faults, gains good company and good children, and attains a full life along with eight-fold prosperity.
